Hotel Review – Island Escape by Burasari

We recently escaped to the island of Koh Maphrao just off the coast of Phuket. It was quite literally an island escape as the resort we stayed at was Island Escape by Burasari. We stayed in this 5 star paradise for 4 nights (21st of October to the 25th of October).

Location: Koh Maphrao is located off the coast of Phuket, South Thailand. When we booked our villa at Island Escape by Burasari it included a return boat transfer. We were collected by a traditional long tail boat at Laemhin Pier. The journey was just a quick 20 minutes.

Hotel Room: We booked the one bedroom vila with a private pool. It was one of the most beautiful rooms we have stayed in. The room was very large and had a living room area, separate area bedroom area, a large bath tub behind the bed and a separate shower/ toilet room. Outside we had our own private deck and pool with views of the ocean.

We spent three nights in this room. On our final night we were lucky enough to get upgraded to a two bedroom villa with private pool, one word WOW! The two bedroom villa came with a huge outdoor seating area, large private pool, a pool table and a kitchen. It was spectacular and very private. If you were traveling as part of a group or with family this space would be ideal.

Service: The service at Island Escape by Burasari was faultless. The staff were incredibly helpful and professional. Guests are allocated host who takes care of any food orders, spa reservations or activity bookings. As the evening restaurant was not open at this time we would simply send a WhatsApp message to our host outlining what we would like to order and the food would then be delivered to our villa at our requested time.

Food: The food was delicious. The menu had a wide variety of options to choose from, both Thai food and Western food. Over the four days we ate our way through a good portion of the menu and it was all so tasty. Breakfast was also excellent. It was buffet style and the food was all of high quality. There was a selection of cured meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, sausages, bacon, eggs, cereals, pastries, salads, fruits, noodles, waffles, pancakes. We were spoiled for choice!!

Spa: During our stay we both enjoyed spa treatments. We made the most of the spa promotion offers. Brian opted for a 90 minute (1500baht) full body massage. I (Lynne) opted for a two and a half hour package (2500 baht) that included a full body massage, body scrub and head massage with oil. The spa was set up in one of the villas. The therapists were very professional and provided an excellent service.

Facilities: As the hotel is not fully complete not all facilities were available. The hotel has a private beach with is beautifully maintained. There is a communal pool over looking the ocean that is open. At this time they are working on bar facilities around the pool. There was also a fully operating spa and day time restaurant (evening meals were served in our villa).

The resort gym is not yet open however the hotel does offer a large selection of workout classes from group runs, TRX, stretching, Muay Thai etc. Island Escape by Burasari also offer day tours to the surrounding islands. We really enjoyed getting out on the boat and visiting two of the beautiful near by islands.

Would We Stay Here Again? 100% YES!!! We are already hoping to return to Island Escape by Burasari in March. As the resort was not fully complete we are looking forward to seeing it in all its glory. Our stay was so relaxing and enjoyable we reckon this might be our go to retreat in Thailand.
