A Weekend Eating in London

London – It’s big. It’s bustling. It’s full of history. It’s a cultural melting pot. Planning a trip to London can be overwhelming. Deciding on where to eat can be quite the task. With so many restaurants to choose from it can be hard to decide.

On our recent trip to London we spent days researching trying where to eat during our short weekend trip. Here are our recommendations for your next trip to London:

Breakfast/ Brunch

Duck and Waffle: This restaurant has been on our bucket list for quite awhile now. Located on the 40th floor it is the highest restaurant in all of London. We enjoyed unbeatable views of London as we dined. We came here for brunch and had their famous “duck and waffles” along with some delicious breakfast cocktails. This restaurant is 24hrs Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A reservation in advance is a must!

Borough Market: Great spot to grab a quick breakfast on the go. Here you will find plenty of local bakery stalls selling everything from sausage rolls to croissants. We recommend checking out Bread Ahead for some of the best doughnuts, bread and pastries London has to offer. Perfect way to start off the day.

Lunch

Bedales of Borough: Staying in the Brough market for our next recommendation. Bedales of Borough is a quaint wine bar/ wine shop and the perfect spot to sit, enjoy a glass of wine, a delicious charcuterie board and watch the world go by.

Dinner

St. Johns: St. John’s is a London institution. The flagship is set in an old smokehouse just north of Smithfield meat market. This restaurant is famous for its nose-to-tail menu. Nothing goes to waste! Expect to see a crispy pig skins and offal on their daily menu. Roast bone marrow on toast is one of their most famous dishes where you scoop out the bone marrow yourself and spread it over homemade sourdough.

Blacklock: Serving up a proper British roast dinner for an affordable price. We recommend ordering the Sunday roast to share. Three types of meat served on one plate along with all the trimmings – roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, vegetables and a side of gravy. Intimating at first, but it is truly delicious!!

Coffee

Redemption Roasters: The worlds first prison based coffee company who aim to reduce the reoffending rates through coffee. All their coffee is roasted behind the walls of HMP The Mount prison. Prisoners are taught to roast coffee along with partaking in barista courses. The coffee here is excellent and they serve a great breakfast too!
